Performance in Berlin
2017
“Not even silence belongs to us anymore,” Asli Erdogan
Room installation and performance for the main hall of the Haus der Berliner Festspiele in 2017 during the ILB
First, for the main hall of the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, I spray-painted portraits of Asli Erdogan and Deniz Yücel onto rolls of paper affixed to the main wall of the foyer.
I also hung T-shirts on the wall featuring texts by authors who had been threatened in Turkey.
In a performance lasting several hours, I sat in a wooden cage and recited passages from Asli Erdogan’s book, “Not Even Silence Belongs to Us Anymore.”
