ANIMAL

Performances in Berlin, 2020

The abhorrent treatment of animals has persisted throughout history. While humans are becoming increasingly aware of the ethical implications of animal testing and meat consumption, ethical concerns still persist.

The connection between man, animals and nature is sacred and primal. It needs to be shared, nurtured and protected.

The artist wears her own skin to the market, inviting the gaze of onlookers and taking on the risk of confrontation and even violence. She is naked and dusts herself with flour, then positions her body and skin next to a real pig’s or duck’s head. The use of flour creates a connection to the Earth, while the pig and duck refer to wealth and gluttony. The artist attempts to engage in a dialogue with the deceased being.
