DON'T TOUCH ME

Performances in Berlin, 2020

Never before have humans experienced isolation on such a scale as during the COVID-19 pandemic. The unprecedented levels of isolation have altered our sense of touchability, the sensation of skin on skin.

The artist is naked – wrapped in rubber gloves that represent a second skin. As an icon of the pandemic, the rubber gloves signify the vulnerability of every skin we wear, as well as the importance of the second skin as a source of strength. The lampshade is the interpretation of the mask – a full body mask that stands for anonymity and isolation.

Our collective desire to make contact, to touch and embrace each other is on full display. The vulnerability and power of our skin is revealed.
